DRC AMBASSADOR RELEASES STATEMENT ON PASSING OF MUHAMMAD ALI
WASHINGTON, DC-- Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Ambassador to the U.S. François Nkuna Balumuene released the following statement today regarding the passing of Muhammad Ali.
"On behalf of the Congolese people and our Embassy in the U.S., we are deeply saddened by the death of Muhammad Ali and express our condolences to his friends and family. The DRC will always cherish our connection to Mr. Ali, going back to the infamous 'Rumble in the Jungle' boxing match held in our capital city of Kinshasa in 1974. Mr. Ali inspired us all when entered the ring that night as an underdog and came out triumphant against the world's undefeated champion. His legacy will live on in all those who choose to never give up hope."
